Trip Diary

Been back for two days now and have not done any posts about it till now cause I have been wondering how to put all my experiences into words.
This trip was special in many ways as I have always had a fascination with roman history and the romantic in me always wanted to visit Venice(which is not that romantic actually) and I spoke the language :)
which was very helpful while ordering all the gelati(stuck to the rule of two) which is: eating 2 gelati a day whenever you are in Italy and the good thing is you can not gain weight here cause of the walking you have to do win win :)
So all in all the place is great, people wonderful a bit like Indians actually and the food out of this world, now I don't see any reason why anyone would not want to visit it; so do it the first chance you get and ya throw in a bit of Paris and it's perfect

And here come the pics, would not be writing about any monument or place's history but clicking on the name will open the Wikipedia page for it if you want to read about it
I will give my take on everything  of course :)

We started the trip in paris
Visiting Louvre  god the museum is so huge but we managed to see most of it my favorite piece was the  Victory of Samothrace
I loved the Eiffel Tower it's beautiful which I never associated with it till I actually saw it
Wandering the streets enjoying the weather
Paris at night
Being together with my husband in the city of love
and endless other things like the bustling Latin quarter, the opera, macaroons and the amazing hot chocolate

What do you associate with paris??

What do you want to be

This weekend while going through some old stuff I found my old diaries and had a very good time reading them.
The 14 year old me was not very realistic(a complete dreamer actually) but she had quite a clear idea of the kind of woman she wanted to be when she grew up, I then compared that woman to myself and was very relieved to find myself fulfilling 14 year old shuchita's expectations :) except that part about Miss Universe he he :)
I slept very peacefully that night and am still on a high from that discovery
Are you the person you wanted to be when you were a kid? Did you or do you write a diary?

Here's the outfit of the day

have you done anything in the recent past that involves leaving your comfort zone???

Blogger return

Hello All,
How's the weekend going???
Mine is slow and lazy involving tasty food and watching Eclipse on DVD :)
I have been a very irregular blogger and that has been a conscious decision but I still read all the other blogs though I have been a bit slow when it comes to comments sorry for that(sheepish smile)
So what have I been doing?? here's a list:
1. Cooking a lot, trying new dishes and I am thinking of blogging about it also what say you??
I am no gourmet cook but a novice cook cooking by trial and error
2. I am learning a new language Italian yeeeee!!!! and it's so beautiful just hearing the teacher speak is
   bellisimo!!(wonderful)
3. House hunting which unfortunately did not result in anything huh!! damn you mumbai real estate
4. Regular workouts
I also started logging my food daily in http://caloriecount.about.com/ and it's very useful as it tells you the nutrients that are lacking in your diet and also tells you about the foods you need to eat to make up for it, I recommend it to anyone who is trying to eat healthy

desi style

Hello Everybody,
how're you??? I have been MIA since almost 1 month but in my defense I am travelling
Last year I was not able to visit north India during winters because of work but this year I have made up for that in fact more than made up for that
now I am actually missing the muggy Mumbai weather and Mumbai though I never thought I would feel like this but it has kinda grown on me so I am waiting for the day when I get to board my flight and go back to my normal life and my dear husband
Meanwhile here is a totally ethnic look

A silk saree purchased from Bangalore
I love sarees and never miss an opportunity to wear one

I think this is called a temple design saree and some how I have a lot of green sarees though I don't particularly like this color

Have a great weekend guys :) will try to be more regular with my posts

I gotta feeling

hello all,
Hope everybody is having a happy week :)
I am finally jet lag free and ready to resume my life as it should be as a human, and not a nocturnal animal
Want to welcome all my new readers to the blog hope you are enjoying it here

The year is almost over and most of it has been spent travelling and there is more travelling on the cards as the great Indian wedding season approaches, so next week there is a big fat punjabi wedding that I have to attend and I am very happy about that, cause:

1. One of our closest friends is getting married and I am very excited about the wedding and the entry of another person in our quite small friend circle(big grin :))

2. I would get a chance to dress up and of course I can go completely overboard with the bling bling(though I most probably won't) as it's a shadi(wedding) and being a married woman that to a newly married woman I am expected to do nothing less

3. I would get to experience true winters and will meet my old friends

So,I think I am completely justified in being excited about it aren't I???

Hopefully I will keep up with my fitness routine like I did on my last holiday
yeah!!! I am also surprised that I managed to exercise even on a holiday but I did not wanted to fall off the band wagon and start all over again
Last year I went completely bonkers during the festival season and ended up gaining a lot of pounds, na na not happening this time so lets pack the yoga pants first

And the OOTD

Wore this to a coffee date with a friend
Top: soap opera Mumbai
Bag: Aldo
Shoes: Banana Republic
Jeans: CK
This is one of my favorite tops because of the color ,the sleeves and the interesting neck line  and the bag is flavor of the week in my closet

B'day post

It was my B'day on 8th and this time I spent it in a very loooong flight, a first for me but we did the B'day celebration a day earlier so am good :)
As I turn a year older I wanted to reflect a bit on the year gone by
Things I learnt in the last 1 year:
You are never too old to learn something new and you are always a work in progress
People can change and it's always worth a try to give them a new chance, just a tini tiny one initially to check if they have actually done so though
Made peace with my career choices
Reaffirmed my notion that time does not heal, you just learn to live with the pain
Learnt to live more in the present
This was my list do you make any such lists???

Here are the pics
All set to party
Top and Skirt: Express
Shoes: Tresmode
It was really cold but the view made me get a click
Don't count the candles I am vain enough not to disclose my age :)

Hope everybody had a great weekend

karwa chauth

hey all,
It was karwa chauth on 26th a day on which women keep a no food no water fast for the long life of their husbands and of course the reason I am writing this is cause I also did that stayed a whole day without food or water which lots of women do without making a big deal about it like I am doing :) but that's me(shoulder shrug it's my signature move)
Sadistic moon rose really late and I along with lots of ladies and of course their husbands stayed glued in the buliding's park with the pooja ki thali all the while trying to ignore the aromas rising out of people's kitchen near by, had a food orgy afterwards though
Dressed up in traditional clothes and of course there is a pic
I love silk sarees and this a traditional orissa silk saree

I have reached my destination and surprisingly not jet lagged at all, will be posting more about that later, did any of your keep karwa chauth ????
do any of you guys also give your wives company and keep KC :)

It's black and it's brown

I am alive, kicking , not so busy so the only excuse for not blogging is sheer laziness.
I had a reasonably good week and managed to do almost all that I wanted to except may be house work which I am not sure if I wanted to do ;)
Saw "Wall Street" the movie (new one) with husband (mentioning it just for the purpose of public service) was a complete bore my advice: watch the first one again and skip this one
I did click one outfit pic today, wore it to go shopping, not for my shopping guys and gals I am restraining myself from shopping nowadays(only a bit though so no worries).
here it is

Top: Zara
 Tights: Espirit
Necklace and Bangles: Coloba
Shoes: Bandra

Showing off my B&W bow shaped hair clip from Twisted

And now I am off to watch the latest episode of Merlin, I am a fantasy junkie I told you :)

One rainy Sunday evening

Celebrated Sunday evening by going out for dinner with husband and a friend
we went for a buffet dinner and despite it being an all you can eat buffet I restrained myself and chose to eat healthy stuff , ye for that :)
and yes desserts was the hardest part  of the abstinence, damn you chocolate !!!!!!
would probably be dreaming about it for the next one week (also have a photographic memory for lust worthy stuff) :)
On a different note saw 2 movies on Saturday and both of them were not that good.
Tere Bin Laden and Sorcerers Apprentice, from the latter I had high hopes(we love fantasy)
but even the presence of  Monica Belucci and Nicolas Cage couldn't salvage a bad screen play, do not watch it.
Tere Bin Laden is refreshing and funny(surprisingly) but we could have just waited for the dvd to come out.

And here comes the food already forgetting the trauma inflicted by bad movies ;)

 Minestrone Soup

 The salads were very yummy

Last but not the least pasta ,made Indian style with spices

Top: Wills Life Style
Jeans: Levis
Shoes: Bangkok
Bag: Bangkok

p.s still not done with Shantaram, angry with myself  for that.

Dominated by orange

Does it happen to you that one or two colors are dominant per season???

Though I do not follow color of the season or any such thing but it happens every season that everything I buy is in the same color or similar to that and this season the color is orange.

So I have orange tops, bags, shoes and planning to buy an orange belt pretty soon.
The good thing is all that gold jewellery that I have can be paired with these outfits :) (In India when you get married you are given a lot of gold jewellery by your family, we are not the highest consumers of gold for nothing)

And here is my rust color kinda orangish top with a cotton shrug to hide a bit of oranginess :), I wore this to work.

Top: Palladium Mall
Shoes: Venus Steps Delhi
Shrug and Necklace: Latin Quarters
Bangles: Gift from Mom-in-law
(though it's not
visible they are purple
and orange in color )

A closer look at the shoes, the heel has colorful stones on it

Learnings

I had always wanted to write a blog(ever since i heard about blogging).

I never thought I would also post pictures of outfits or any such thing, cause the truth is I am not that good at it.
If I make an attempt I look ok and yeah good also but I seriously lack in the accessories department and I do need to work on thinking out of the box when it comes to fashion.

Through this blog I will work on the above and of course I have all you lovely bloggers for inspiration who continue to amaze me with their innovative take on everyday dressing.

These are some of my humble learnings:

Don't be too matchy matchy

Invest in accessories not just clothes

Venturing out of your comfort zone can be sometimes wonderful, for me that means anything other than Jeans or Pants

Make up doesn't mean only lipstick and kajal(kohl), blush can work wonders with a face.

Dress not only according to body type but also weather and place, place important in case of India specially north India where showing some skin can lead to eve teasing and harassment, though things have changed a lot now.

Drab colors need to be brightened up with some accessories.

Every piece of jewellery need not be precious metal or diamonds, costume jewellery looks wonderful too and you can buy lots more than just 1 or 2 pieces at a time.

It feels good to wear pretty clothes even while staying at home(makes the husband really happy).

Proper storage is very important.

The post has become too long, sometimes I have a tendency to ramble so will stop now.

So I will have hits I will have misses but what I will always have is effort.

p.s: the inspiration for the post comes from here

My wish wish list

The wish wish list

I like this bag and it's on sale too, though it's too simple

The color is so good and has this small wallet inside too

Need I say anything these Louboutin shoes speak  for themselves

I totally love these Jimmy Choo shoes and they look beautiful from every angle,  really liked the pink touch

Alta Rita 100 slingback by Christian Louboutin

D & G marigold and black polka dot dress, it is very figure flattering and definitely a head turner

Love the studs on this Jimmy Choo bag

Again I really like Chanel bags I guess I have made it pretty evident by now and I like big bags in which I can put all my stuff .

So, this was my wish wish list, I say wish wish cause it's not that realistic and I would probably buy 1 max 2 things out of this except the first 2 bags as they are on sale.

Blue dress

This is what I wore for a movie and a day at the mall.
The dress is perfect for mumbai weather, 100% cotton and a bright color, it's just that I think I should have worn more accessories maybe a bright belt or bangles but at that time I thought the bag was blingy enough.
Don't look at the hair, humidity has made it super frizzy and I am due for a hair straighting anyways.
We watched the The A Team finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loveeed it, it was a proper summer popcorn movie and hubby and friends loved it too, bradley cooper is so good looking and made the movie watching a very pleasant experience.
But all in all an entertaining movie and can be watched without regrets

Dress: Espirit
Bag:    Boutique in Bandra
Shoes: Bootmakers Bandra

Earrings: twisted Phoenix mills
was able to buy just these, sometimes you are just not able to find anything.
